Agree totally!
I offered to replace the clutch cable on my sister in laws boyfriends Renault 19 16V. Never again! It took hours as its buried behind the exhust system and the bulkhead! Absolute dog of a job. It's a common fault as well as the cable is bent tightly to get through and gets roasted from engine heat!
I had cuts all up my arms! Poxy cars!
I think a lot of this is to do with RHD versions of an otherwise predominantly LHD car, they make it work but its not ideal.
