The time has come ware I’m thinking about getting a cutter grinder but what to do in the mine field?
The primary use I have for a cutter grinder would be milling cutters, end mills and slot drills up to 1-1/4 shank. A secondary use would be to grind drills better than I can by hand.
The obvious solution would be a Clarkson grinder, although these are getting hards to find at reasonable prices. Also getting all the required accessories is a concern.
Next I hear the Quorn grinders are very capable although require the effort to build in the first place, but you get the sense of achievement from making something to do a job.
Another possibility I like the idea of is to get a surface grinder, which I would like to anyway and use this to facilitate the milling cutter sharpening but I believe this isn’t as straightforward as a dedicated cutter grinder.
I am open to all options and suggestions and any input is appreciated.
