I'll try and get that sorted in 2020, car licence would be great to have. Not needed for most of my life; but since damaging my eyes I've lost a lot of confidence when it comes to driving / riding on the roads.
The money isn’t in this country, at least not on the shop floorI did my apprenticeship (sheet metal work) from 1967-1971 earning about £3 per week ! My mates were working on any job that paid well and earning 10x what I was , they had a much better lifestyle than I did and yes I had skills they didn’t, my training did earn me good money after I’d left the sheet metal job by doing the welding for local garages but by then my mates were earning as much or more than I was , nice to have a skill but make sure it’s a skill that earns good money, my son is an electrician and doing very well apprenticeships sound good but go where the money is.
Will you need a medical to apply for provisional license?

Horses for courses, I don’t like knocking my pan out for 11 quid an hour doing skilled work and coming home knackered when I could work at Aldi for the same coin. Poor trades pay is endemic in this country. Go to the US and see how they treat their tradesmenI'm unemployed; so what is little to some, might seem alright by me.

Had a job offer come through the other day. Multitrade carpenter (tiling plastering plumbing etc) 120 a day. Gave em the finger. Already have a provisional. I've ridden a motorbike before... with anxiety, I find it easier to be a passenger, although I miss riding the bike. Plan to be on the road again this year, was planning to get back on the bike, although a car would be more useful.
This waiting til you’re 24 years old has really hurt the motorcycle gameIn the mean time get a cheap bike, at least you can get to a place of work etc that isn't near a bus route for example.
Riding a bike will give you road knowledge/skills that will go towards making you a car driver. To me riding a bike is one of the best feelings in the world, we need more youngsters to join the club.
My skilled mind knows it’s worth, and it isn’t driving to London, do a days work and then sleep in the van for 11 quid an hour. Not worth knackering myselfI've heard others say that before but wouldn't you be bored **** less at the likes of Aldi?
This is what I don't get, if you have a 'skilled' mind then surely you'd be happier using it?

Thats why a lot of sheet metal men moved to the statesMy skilled mind knows it’s worth, and it isn’t driving to London, do a days work and then sleep in the van for 11 quid an hour. Not worth knackering myself
Funny you should mention that, I was offered 3 jobs in two weeks when I was out there, they can’t get enough of them and they pay bloody well tooThats why a lot of sheet metal men moved to the states
