So i still looking at machines to buy... I defo want a mig which will be a Lincoln speed tec 215c which does 200 amps 25percent duty on the mig side of things.. But as i understand 200 is not enough to really weld 10mm unless you do multi passes right?
So what i am thinking is if i need to weld 10-12mm thick steel ill just put a 150amp weld along the bevel butt join of two pieces using the mig and then use this SIP mma machine https://www.sipuk.co.uk/sip-weldmate-hg2600a-arc-tig-inverter-welder.html and put a 5-6mm 7018 electrode on it to finish it off..
What you guys reckon? how thick can i weld using 250amps on the mma machine? it says use upto 5mm but i reckon i could weld with a 6mm at 250amps? what you guys think from personal experience? ive never done do arc welding above 3.2mm with a 6013
