Use a copper hammer.
depending on how serious you are... I once bought a house to renovate where the previous owner obviously had some sort of hobby he used the dinning room for. there was a workbench where he had removed two lengths of floorboards and extended the legs down into the ground under the floor void then infilled the floorboard gap between the legs. Pretty neat job with the lino floor cut around the legs. Certainly caught me out trying to remove the workbench!
Now why would you say that? Clearly not true in this case because the intention is to deaden the impact of a hammer blow and the easiest way to do that is to absorb the shock in a heavy mass. Like say an anvil.
I am a huge fan of the flypress but they are lit. massive devices. A better bet would be a decent arbor press. I don't think leather really needs that much pressure to achieve the desired result and for smaller delicate work, a hammer is just as effective.
Squash balls? The slab is already in a box, just fill the box with a layer of tennis balls. Cost you £2 from poundland...
Squash balls?
Smaller so less heigh gains
I have to deal with structural vibration proffessionally. I can explain why the single blow creates vibration ( noise ) if you want.
Ohh go on, I haven't read a good argument on here for a while.I am sooo tempted , thanks but no thanks. Much as I enjoy a science debate, this is not the forum for it sadly.

so I’m not sure if I’m being over cautious,
Only doing it between the hours of?I'll set your mind at rest....you are.
Crack on the way you are, as long as you're not doing it between the hours of 8:00 - 22:00.

Armstrong developed the steam rivet setter (*) specifically so that his yard on the Clyde could sill rivet ship plates without upsetting (unintentional pun!) his god fearing church going critics ! Them Victorians were a clever bunch.
. . .perhaps you could do something on similar lines where a gentle squeeze is applied rather than a thump?
(*it was like a huge G cramp suspended from a crane)
