Just noticed my post from the past. Never finished story off.
I did end up cutting a rectangle hole in the side of the van and then through the inner sill to access the upper sides of the repair.
Did a full rebuild of area and refitted inner sill at end and outer body piece.
Poor van looked like it had had a C section!
Passed m. O. T first time and drove so much better.
I must of spent 24 hours welding it all up.
Then a few months later when parked up in Tunbridge wells some scumbag broke into it and stole it. They had crashed into something and set the van alite. I received it back with a caved in roof and completely burnt out with all my stuff in the back turned to Ash.
Shame as was a good van under the shell lol.
I agree,i've my eye on one sitting in a yard looking sorry for itselfYou all scoff the little escort vans are starting to fetch good money now
I rebuilt a mk4 last year
Both mine had their fair share of electrical gremilins. Not serious but wipers lights etc.I like how simple the engines are, low pressure diesel injection very little to go wrong and easy to fix if it does. No electrics either to chase around for hours.
Plus why not be different? Millions of connects about but how often do you see an escort! Lol
