I have a generic wireless doorbell with plug in 'ringers' in the house and garage.
It has it's issues, namely phantom rings from interference with car alarm remotes (actually they have stopped since next door swapped cars) and despite being 'weatherproof' to some standard or other it stops working in cold damp weather until I take the button down and bring it inside to dry out/warm up.
I do always have my mobile with me and it would be nice to have it ring or make some sound when the doorbell is rung, but it would appear the only way to do this is to pay lots and connect to the internet.
I do not need to have video or to be able to answer my door wherever in the world I am, just know someone is at the door if I'm down the garden or in the shed.
Is there any solution out there that just uses local Wifi and a mobile app rather than having to have an account on someones server with yet another copy of my personal details on it?
Failing that can anyone recommend a wireless doorbell that is truly weatherproof and reliable.
