Hi all,
New to the forum, new to MIG welding. I've lurked around on here for a while looking at posts and invested in a Murex Tradesmig 160. Although an old machine it is in very good condition and clearly hasn't had a hard life. I purchased a hobbyweld regulator as I can source Gas from quite close to my house and went for the argon 5 mix due to the thickness of material I will be welding. When I turn teh gas on I hear a very faint hiss from the regulator - this to me suggests a leak. I mixed up some soapy water and sprayed liberally with the gas on and I couldn't find the source of the leak......Before I return the regulator I wanted to check if this was expected behaviour of a new regulator? When i shut the gas off the pressure on the flow meter holds for a few seconds and then drains away fairly quickly - this also suggests a leak to me?
Thanks for any information - I've actually used the welder and have gotten a few nice welds out of it, i'm just concerned i'll be out of gas soon!
Kind regards,
Harry
