My next job involves a large fabricated sheet metal hoop.
Today I made the bulk of it and am happy with the result to so far.
it's made of 1.6mm mild steel sheet with small brackets holding the sides apart.
the large sheets were plasma cut as half hoops as a paid for job. I could see doing this free hand being a nightmare.
So anyway.
I am ready to clad the sides. Plan A is to tack rolled strips all the way around the inner and outer surfaces, small tacks say every 100mm or so. Then what?
Clamp it to the bench and make short seems say 300mm long and do them near opposite each other until it is filled in on one side. Leave it over night to settle then flip it over and repeat.
Bare sheets ready to assemble
Brackets inside shot
Here we go
