There is a good reason for that. Hylomar etc do not generally cause problems in engines. RTV stays in solid lumps, to travel around the engine blocking oil galleries. My opinion is that like WD-40 in a garage workshop, it shows the 'mechanic' up as a "bodge artist".
I did say a smear of rtv, just don't put it on like toothpaste.If you put hylomar on that thick you'll get problems.
