Morning all,
I have recently had my chimney swept and am using my fire place for burning wood instead of the rubbish gas fire that was in its place!
I know they are not the most efficient sources if heat but it was more so for the look and sound of a crackling fire as I don’t watch much tv although I have seen some heat exchangers that send hot air around the room by the way of a fan fitted to some tubes that sit under the fire and bend up and over from the back of the fire. Now these look an effective way of hearing the room but a bit industrious IMO.
What I am thinking of doing is Getting some thick wall pipe, cut into lengths just slightly longer than my fire is deep and placing them at the bottom of the fire on a slight angle so the pipes are facing the ceiling away from the fire. My thinking in this is that the hot air from inside the pipes will dissipate into the room, am I correct?
I am not expecting a lot from it although I don’t want a big frame or fan sat at the fire place either!
TIA
