We need to run Bob the 64 Land rover down, so which electric orbital sander would you reccoment and what grade of paper?
Some paintrs ok some is flaking I would imagine we would go back to bare ally?
I asked this question some years back, and langey told me to get a Mira 650 air job.
I bought a second hand one, was never happy with it, but eventually got the spanner to open it up and clean it out. It's now proper fierce and nice and light to hold.
For stripping a Land Rover to bare metal this is worth considering if you can still find one (it looks to have been discontinued). I’ve had one for years and it’s a good bit of kit, and I don’t rate Clarke gear generally (although their welders are decent).
Would a variable speed angle grinder with a backing pad and sanding disc be worth a try? It would certainly remove the paint pretty quickly, you’ll need to be more careful though. I’m not sure if anybody has experience of using this method on car bodywork?
Screwfix have an electric DA 125mm for less than £30 . That’s throw away pricing, but it has a 12 month warranty so buy one abuse it’s until it passes away and return it for a new one.
I had a PCL dual action sander for fine work, and a rotary disk head mounted in a battery drill for coarse work, when i did my own bodywork. Got good results, too.
The PCL DA was sold to my cousin and he uses it all the time for wet sanding bodywork. Lovely bit of kit.
