Looking at getting some shears for cutting up to a max of .9 SS.
Need to cut the odd radius as well as straights.
Would I be best off with the throatless type presumably?
yep and buy an old machine.......I bought a new shear, what was adescribed as h/d....it was made with 10mm plate......
but the plate was "Chineseum"....didnt take long to bend it £140 down the tubes.........
have an old French machine now.....prob older than me n has a peice of scoffold pipe for a bit of extra leverage........does everything I need....
but have a hard time keeping to the scribe line tho, prob my fault cos I sharpened the blades....
most shears have a hole for the thiner round stuff, which is always handy.....
PS bolt it down to the floor or something heavy.......mine's attached to my fettling bench which weighs around 3/4ton........hahaha.....
I’d love an old machine but struggling to find a throat less one. Been searching on German eBay but will try French now as well. If not looks like America may be best shot.
Anything to avoid Baleigh!
