In our Men's Shed there are 2 emergency exit signs that do not light up normally but they do light up when you simulate a power cut. Am I correct in thinking that they should be lit up all the time? The one on the other door is permanently lit.
if only one lights up with the power off the batteries have had it. not worth bothering with there only about 18 quid new
The 3 signs are identical & all 3 lead outside so I guess they should be maintained but one only lights up when the power is cut.
take the cover off then the ones that don't light up when power on may be none maintained. some have to have a link from live to live one to make them maintained .Not sure what I was thinking when I typed this post.
What I meant to say was that one doesn't light up when power is on, all 3 light up when power is cut!
take the cover off then the ones that don't light up when power on may be none maintained. some have to have a link from live to live one to make them maintained .
no keys just knock the power offHopefully get a look at them Friday, nobody else around to annoy me!
The emergency test switches are 2 different makes with 2 totally different keys, only had one type, the other one arrived today!
no keys just knock the power off
So I went to take the cover off the first sign & I came across a problem.

The plastic front should slide off to the right but the muppet that installed them put the conduit in the way!
I had to bend the plastic cover to get it out of its tracks, expecting it to shatter! Once inside I confirmed that it was a maintained unit, as were all of them.

But one look at the tube & I was fairly certain what the problem was! I swapped the tube from the one working sign between the non-working ones & they all worked perfectly. I have bought new tubes for all the signs & they'll be going in on Friday.

This was another sign, the unistrut bracket blocked normal cover removal this time!
