From what I can remember the grub screws set the left to right on the top wheel and then there are the two knobs above them, one sets the top to bottom of the wheel. If you have a spirit level then start by clamping that to the bottom wheel and align top wheel to be flush with bottom wheel should be a good starting point. Much easier to show something like this than explain it.Hope it's ok to ask here for some advice- there's not a lot on the web about this machine.. I've recently acquired a Whitehead Junior which I'm loving and was getting along fine- until I started fiddling! I've spent far too much time trying to set the blade on the top wheel without it drifting back and forth. I'm going round in circles with the adjustment grub screws and not really getting anywhere. I need something like a talkthrough to start from scratch and would really appreciate any help. @Cuthy246- is that something you'd be willing and able to run through for me? I'm slowly renovating the machine as you have done with yours, but mostly just working on the paintwork. Thanks!
Gear it down a lot.Hi Guys
Would you say the Whitehead "junior" Bandsaw would be any good for cutting metal
Thanks, I thought as much did you ever figure out wat the pully sizes will have to be cheersGear it down a lot.
Way too fast. I looked into it but having it as a dual material saw was too much of a pita.
I did but lost in the mists of time. Thanks, I thought as much did you ever figure out wat the pully sizes will have to be cheers
OK thanksI did but lost in the mists of time.
Anyone need spare parts. Gonna be getting rid of mine I think clearing house ATM
Space and lack of time to sort it out and fit a new motor.OK thanks
One last question I can't seem to find the answers on is what is the height width and length of this machine
Any reason you are getting rid of yours ?
Works OK if you run the higher speeds the lower speeds it loses a lot of Torque so when you try to cut 10 mm steel it stallsYou could convert it to 3-phase and run it from a VFD.
I was going to make a 22:1 box for mine. I didn't think a VFD would be good at such lowThanks, I thought as much did you ever figure out wat the pully sizes will have to be cheers
Yes it will need some chronic gearing which adds to the bulk of the machineI was going to make a 22:1 box for mine. I didn't think a VFD would be good at such low
speeds; I was watching an 8pole motor on ebay, that would have been a good starting point.
Standard blade speed is something like 2800 ftmin.
Well I've done this - extended the motor mount up, fitted a reduction gearbox and 3 ph motor. Going to wire it up now.Gear it down a lot.
