As a title
I would like to improve my welding and fabrication skills, not for work but just to take my hobby and my skills at an higher step
In my toolkit I have the capability to
stick weld using
7018 in almost every position , overhead I can but not as easy as in vertical or horizontal or flat position ,head , fillet, lap joint which are not a problem
6013 fillet vertical up and flat head joints
6010 in almost every position , just problems to control
Stainless also overhead but I don't use them often
Measurements with various instruments
I think that I can use an angle grinder because I have 6 or 7
Spark testing to recognize steel , stainless ,cast iron and different carbon contents (obviously not a computer)
Now one of my big concerns about welding is distortion , until I have an head joint I can control it relatively easy but when I have only fillets as for a bench leg starts to become a big problem to me
Another thing I'm always scared to blow through on everything less than 3mm thick , generally in this cases I use stainless 2mm rods but , sometimes is to difficult to weld
These are problems at the moment ,then there are also personal curiosity that I would like to know
So please can you give me some tips and tricks to improve my knowledge and skills ?
Thanks
Ps Remember that I have not to much time for various reasons , firstly my health because my kidneys so I can't press to much , second I have to work
