I've been having a vague nose around the place for a while so I thought I'd better say hello properly.
For the past 4 years or so I've had the 'pleasure' of shoe horning a mate's neat scrap LDV camper through its test using a cheap glassless MIG and whatever scraps of tin he supplied for the job. His van is now constructed variously from bits of scrap angle iron, washing machine, galvanised sheet and a few hopes and prayers for good measure.
My own vehicles are a Trifecta of Rust, a Discovery Td5, Mk6 Transit and a Mercedes Vario. The first 2 I've managed to patch using the same gasless MIG, but the Vario needs every skirt replacing or at least repairing, so I've invested in a real machine. I went for an R-Tech MIG 180 as it seemed impossible to find any kind of negative feedback on the tool or company.
My next job is to find a source of gas in the area (west of Ireland) and a space large and dry enough to put the fan in and start working on it. I have my eye on an empty unit down the road that window thinking lads were renting for e100 a week, and wondering if there's something I could do there for a few hours a day outside my own welding job that would earn a little cash and maybe turn into something like an actual business.
Anyway, that's me. Looking forward to getting stuck into the forum and the job in hand.
