Hello,
I'm planning to buy my first welder fairly soon and have been trying to find some safety clothing (jacket and maybe flame retardant trousers). Can anyone here recommend anywhere that I can go and get good safety clothing that is suitable for tall & thin people?
I live in Dursley in Gloucestershire and went up to Severn Safety Supplies in Cheltenham yesterday, but all the things that I tried that were about the right size in the body had sleeves that finished about 5 inches short of my wrist. Most of the trousers had 31.5" inside leg measurements, which again is way too short.
In case it helps put my size/shape into context, I have a 35" waist and 36" inside leg; my chest measurement is 39" and my armpit-to-wrist measurement is 25". I'm 6'6" and weigh 85 kg. Most clothing suppliers seem to assume that anyone with a 36" inside leg has a 52" waist and most that have a tall range (which is usually too short anyway) only extend the trouser length and not the sleeves.
Any suggestions of (UK, preferably Gloucestershire-ish) places I could try would be very welcome. When I was a young lad, it seemed normal for clothing to be provided too long so that you had to turn the sleeve/leg ends up to suit your size, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore alas (and it's *much* harder to make clothes longer than it is to shorten them).
Many thanks,
Al
