Hi all
New to the forum but have been gleaning good advice for a while now from posts.
I'm after some help with some defects I'm getting in a vespa restoration project with some 2K Direct Gloss.
What I've done:
Sanded the vespa back to metal and coated with lechler epoxy primer. I then coated with Green Ti and flatted back using 600 grit.
I then coated again with epoxy primer (to get consistent primer colour) and the wet coated with lechler 29140 using 00516 thinners and 29340 hardener.
I used a ani r150 gun with a 1.0mm tip to spray the 29140 just because of the size of the bike.
I got some orange peel which I'm now trying to remove by sanding flat using 1500,2000 then machine polishing with meguiars 101 then 3m yellow and blue.
When I start polishing I get what I can only describe as shallow pinholes which I've tried to show in the picture below
The light makes them look deep in the one above.
They arent in the orange peel finish therefore I'm assuming something has gone wrong in one of the earlier coats.
Any assistance with what's caused this would be appreciated.
I'm happy that I need to probably flat and respray but don't want to repeat the problem.
Thanks
