whats the best way to fix these please

It's called trenched capping. The nails are fine as long as you nail into the thick end of the boards.

They come in 3m lengths. The beauty of trenched capping is that if you have lapped the feather edge right it will be a nice tight fit over the top. The nails are only really there to hold it down if it tries to bend and twist as it dries out. Half a dozen nails per length is plenty.if i did it like this...just a nail every few boards i guess?
25mm x 15mm batten along the top edge on the hidden/neighbours side and fixed to that is probably how I would do it if I had some feather board fencing that is.
I always thought it customary to put the face side towards neighbours.
I must admit I've never really understood why people are so offended by looking a arris rails and when you put them on the outside all you are doing is making the fence easier to climb over or to get through. My other argument is if someone thinks they look that bad why would you want to present that as an exterior to your property?
The thinking is, that you have the posts on your land if it's your fence, and then the feather edge defines the boundary.I always thought it customary to put the face side towards neighbours.

The feather edge will be on the outside. I'm lost now.Yes, that's what I mean but I see so many where they've put the feather edge side on the outside.
Don't want to seem pedantic but there not Arris rails.I didn't bother with capping, looks nasty.
If you don't like arris rails, make a feature out of them.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing.Don't want to seem pedantic but there not Arris rails.
Don't even look like cant rails but difficult to tell from the pics.

I got some phosphor bronze round nails 35 mm long , so long as you predrill the rail to just under the nail diameter you wont split the rail when you nail into the horizontal rail endsIt's called trenched capping. The nails are fine as long as you nail into the thick end of the boards.
