I recently replaced the existing leaking roof on our kitchen extension with OSB3 T&G and Rubber Roof membrane. The insulation that was beneath it was patchy and for the best part of it useless so it was removed at the same time as the roof was replaced.
I now need to replace the ceiling for both were the roof had leaked but also were I wasn't as nimble footed as I used to be and put my leg through it much to the wife's shock below. From what I gather I have a cold roof construction and I am going to insert PIR insulatation board between the rafters leaving a 50mm space above for air circulation. Then plaster board with a vapour barrier for the ceiling. From what I see I don't have a gap between the insulation and the plaster board.
I will be having LED flush fitting downlighter at around 120mm in diameter. Do I need to leave an airspace around the fitting in the ceiling i.e. use thinner insulation above them.
Any corrections or advice before embarking on this next stage would be gratefully received.
