Hi everyone
I am always making researches to accomplish my goal to get a plasma cutter before 2020 hopefully
I wouldn't like to pick up something that isn't good for my necessity
So I'm every day through forums reading about but I haven't found an answer to all my probably stupid questions about just reading, I also search here but without success
Because of that I'm making this thread
So after a long time looking only for stamos s-cutter 50 because it has a gouging mode ,I understood that is almost a toy ...
So I was searching about Chinese ones but pilot arc is expensive for a bad looking cut 50 to many things to connect and exposed
After I was looking to built in air compressor but I realized that I don't need (after receiving your advices about)
So this week searching on eBay I've found an England seller which has a series of "BMW plasma cutter" in 25 40 and 50A versions
I sent an email to get further information about because I like the design it has
The problem now is that I have only used a big cebora three phase transformer based unit , not mine and not enough to learn how to use it etc
I can't understand what kind of unit I need ,I'm looking only to duty cycle (to don't over heat the unit) and cutting capacity .
But now I'm understanding that I am not able to use it because I have not enough experience with this kind of units ,is not like a welder where is always the same .
To make straight cuts I think that I will need a straight edge or a burning guide (that I will make when I get the plasma cutter)
My requirements are
-Quick datachable leads , because I need to store the machine and accessories after every use , because I haven't enough space to keep it in the home shop
- high cutting capacity not because I need to cut 20mm (21clean 25 severance) but because my power contract is only 3kW so I will use the plasma around 30A which if my calculations are correct this machine could cut 12mm that is good enough for me
- Pilot arc
This machine can do all that but I can't understand which kind of torch is designed to drag cut and which not
I have not found anything that tell me if this kind of torch (look at the picture) can drag cut or if is designed to be kept some mm away from the work piece
Please I really appreciate any kind of suggestion about because it's a completely new world to me and I think that maybe I'm just giving to much importance to something instead of other much more important to know and understand choosing a machine
Thank you for your help
Sorry if this arguments has been thread before
Sorry for my English , you know is not my mother language
