Hi,
I’m Paul from near RWB in Wiltshire. I’ve been looking at this site for just over a year as I have been contemplating buying a Harrison M300 lathe as well as a TIG set. My dad bought me a Myford Super 7 when I was in my teens (30 years ago) as I was doing a lot of machining in my school machine shop.
I had been looking for a milling machine for a while, probably a Bridgeport. Then I accidentally bought a three tonne Kearney and Trecker 2D rotary head milling machine. It is a fantastic and unusual machine with lots of rigidity and the ability to do incredible things. I have converted it to single phase (with VFDs), which was no small exercise as it has 5 motors.
Once I had the 2D, the Myford seemed a bit like a toy, so I was looking for a bigger lathe. I settled on an M300 and finally found one in reasonable condition at a sensible price last month. I have just started stripping and cleaning it. It will be tarted up and converted to run via a VFD.
