That test result pretty much proves that you have a gas problem, why are you using a lens, at this stage its just adding another layer of things to deal with, I hardly ever use a lens even on stainless, a pea shooter flow meter is a useful tool to check the flow at the torch.

Check that the torch is assembled properly described in our wiki here https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/wiki/The_Basic_TIG_Torch
And this is how the lens is set up

Looks like radial grind marks on the tungsten? Lines need to go down the cone, not around.
But yeah, looks like gas issues too. Are you using the genuine EWM gas hose from the regulator?
There is a clear gas contamination issue there
No point in worrying about anything technique related till you’ve resolve this.
Clean the weld area with a bit of scotchbrite and a bit of rag with some acetone or thinners or some solvent like that. Even though its stainless, it might have grease or engrained dust from lying around. Is there any draughts where you are working ?
Are you sure the torch insulator is correct??
You do not need a number 11 cup mate. That’s not helping you out. Step down to a number 7, set yourself 6-8lpm on the gas.Put together like the pictures in the previous page?
The only thing I think I have different is the washer on the torch. But the 2 white bits do make a seal when it’s all tightened up

Yeah just wondering cos I've had a issue with a torch once using a big gas lens and the collet was restricting the flow to gas diffuser had to knock off couple of mm then fine.Put together like the pictures in the previous page?

Yeah that gas lens set up ain't quite right your getting restriction. That looks better.Back to the non lens setup with a 7 cup.
Arc is more stable like this to be fair

Gas lenses are great things. It’s all I ever use on everything. However the quality Varys a hell of a lot between them and there is never a need to weld stainless in anything bigger than a number 7 cup.
If you want to use a lens then do so but buy a nice high quality one. On your torch I really like the stubby lens kits from ck. lots of distributors sell ck parts now for around the same sort of money.
Here is a parts breakdown of the items in 1.6 and 2.4 I’d highly recommend for your size torch. You’ll have no problem with quality issues on these. I’ve been using them for years

Was it an American fella with a stripes n stars bandana using a clear cup the size of a jam jar to weld a bit of poxy 304?which said nothing less than a 12 (hence I bought the big one with the lens today)
