I don't know much about unwanted SMS messages but here is the Which? guide. It looks like you would need to have consented or opted in in order to receive this nosense:

Whenever I get a contract I always cap it.
Can't get any suprise bills.
This is with 3, not sure if you can with others?
According to vodafone you can...but you need to use https://psauthority.org.uk/for-consumers/ive-been-charged-what-next to get your money back.As @armalites points out, you can't be charged to receive a text message. You have either subscribed to something, clicked something, or replied to something without realising.
If anything, that link supports what we've already said.Acco

i am not saying you cant get money back but vodafone have definitely charged us and incidentally for picture messages which i thought were included on our plans as they are not cheap.....If anything, that link supports what we've already said.
Who on earth do you use now. I stay with vodafone as it gives me 100gig internet where our van is sited. Others did not last time i tested.Picture messages (MMS) are not included in a lot of VF tarrifs and it's far too easy to make a standard SMS into one. I get 80% discount with VF (as I used to work for them) and have still moved the family to PAYG from another provider as I was sick off getting extra charges.

Yeah well that might be ok if we could access the app. for years its only been available to non business contracts. For a couple of years they have been rolling it out to business customers but its only just become available to us.....sadly its not accessible...lol In thats its broken and the website says they are having technical problems.... On another side of things has any one compared an Huawi P30 pro and a Samsung Note 9 or S10 pro etc.You can block all the spendie services and add maximum out of contract extra charges limit in the my account section of the Vodafone web site, you can probably do it on their app too but I have not checked.
After more investigation and thinking , Its only started after my grandson got his Nintendo switch..As @armalites points out, you can't be charged to receive a text message. You have either subscribed to something, clicked something, or replied to something without realising.
