Just read the Festool peice in the forum.....good tools, have a couple but oh so expensive.....
OK, quick bit of history......
my shop is quite small and cramped for the amount of gear in there.......
luckily I live in the middle of nowhere with the nearest house 1/2 mile away.....
SO, if the weather is good I get all my messy wood machines outside, cos they are either on wheels of can be mooooooved with a pallet truck......
but u need to work inside when it's raining.....right.....
so.
sick of the amount of Airbourne dust about, I thought I'd buy a couple of filter machines.......
Not gonna pay a couple of hundred quid for that so decided to make my own....
been skip diving, not as much fun as the other sort but very handy....hahaha....
came up with a couple of bathroom extractor fans and some air filter elements from a high horse-power Scania and made this....
u wont need any help with the construction.....
I use 3 st/steel wood screws to hold the filter to the ply at each end.....mine are prob 10 years old now and have never fell apart.....
but just a couple of things to look out for.....
1 of my fans has a string pull switch (built in the fan), the other has a bedside light slide switch......
mine are hung on the same chains as the overhead strip lamps and the get their power also from the lighting ....
BUT, they need to be removable for cleaning (outside with an airline)........
AND THEY NEED TO BE GROUNDED, hence the 3 pole connecter....this is for static, the filters I use have a stainless mesh on the outside....so easy to connect....
as they are small wattage units 20-30 they create no probs for the wiring and also cheap to run.....
all made from rubbish, how cheap is that....
the next units I make I will just buy some new fans, the type with timer on....
and u wanna see how much dust they remove in just a few hours....
make 1 n try it......
evertime I use or see mine I just think how much money I saved.......hahaha.....
just an idea..........
