Main dealer has also confirmed, no special tools are needed to remove the lock and barrel. But when it is removed you need specialist knowledge to start the van. Easy enough to find out.
I have done.

@mrsbruce Safe for you.
@slim_boy_fat Very safe for you.
@Parm Not for you.
Last time the orange company representative proudly stated they could fix most breakdowns at the side of the road. I said so could I on the Defender but unless the van happened to have a crankshaft, bearing shells, big ends and bottom end bolts then he doesn't stand much of a chance.
@8ob has a good story about one of the horsie girls and their lorry.
they would probably call it an oil leak

What as the yellow vans company answer to your complaint
Flippin Eck !! What car was that in mate ? WowI had pretty much the same experience when I rang the same people a couple of years ago. I said that I needed recovery as my car had just broken its crankshaft in a really big way. The call centre person said "our technicians fix most vehicles by the roadside" I said 'you'd need to send a magician rather than a technician if anyone is going to fix this one at the roadside'.
