I looked into using nitrogen with my plasma a while back for getting cleaner cuts on stainless steel but decided against it in the end due to cost. I didn't know it also increased the cut capacity aswell, might be worth revisiting the idea.The nitrogen gives a cleaner cut and let's you cut 20% thicker on the same power so might be handy if you are restricted on the power supply
Probably this will end with some molten consumablesWell somebody has to say it: how about using Oxygen?
Would help with the cut a bit I should expect.
What about outside works?Turn compressor on, let if charge - Turn compressor off, turn Plasma on, cut until you run out of air.
Repeat.
Power problem solved.
My caculations:
15litre bottle filled to 230bar
(That's the most common/cheapest dive bottle)
15x230=3450
3450/100=34.5Allow for the fact that you won't have enough flow at the end of the tank so won't be able to use all the air but that looks more like at least 30mins of cut time at 100lpm?
If you can find an 18l 300bar tank you should get nearer an hour. That's quite a lot of continuous cutting!
This calc does not take into account the pressure at the plasma cutter, which if its 60psi would be a quarter of the time, which would be nearer 7~8 mins
