I am planning to teach myself tig welding in my garage. The garage is a good sized detached double garage, with a normal tiled apex roof (same as normal house). However, unlike a house there is no ceiling and hence there is a large open roof space that in a house would be the attic.
My concern is how much in the way of smoke and fumes will be generated from tig welding and if significant will it rise and collect in the roof space. Ventilation of the roof space could prove very difficult.
I did plan to put in a ceiling many years ago, but that would now be very difficult due to the amount of "stuff" in the garage and also an unnecessary expense as we intend to move in the not too distant future.
I have experience of mig welding but that was mainly outdoors where smoke and fumes were not an issue.
