Have some newer drills and yes I agree but these were beasties would happily snap your wrist. This is why people buy DeWalt, doesn’t have the power to break anything
Not sure that's the kind of thing @mrsbruce wants to read right now.23 years on it still gives her a bit of irritation

Thanks all for comments, what next I wonder?.
mrs zep did this too with a pair of looky looky man shades ,was puttin them on while trying to control a crabbit 2 year old and put a tiny slash on her eye. Had to drive her to the hospital eye clinic every day for a week ,23 years on it still gives her a bit of irritation
Don’t know why they don’t just put a long handle on them, similar to the extra handle you get on a hammer drill/angle grinder, just longer. Fair enough it would restrict access in some cases so would need to be removable or telescopic but would stop it turning.

Definitely a good drill and well worth putting back to use
To heavy for everyday work but when there's big holes though timber or solid oak doors this comes out
the reason why i have never been a fan of these
I almost done the same thing few year back drilling a boat trailer...my own fault as i turned the shanks down on some 25mm drills to make them fit the chuck went into the scrap bin and invested in a mag drillI think mine is the same thing, won it on eBay for £5,
Caught while I was using a 16mm blacksmith bit in it, luckily I let the drill fling me on to the bench rather than have it snap my wrist, I'm not a light person either.
Plug came off and it's never seen daylight again
