The silver foil strips between the wood were there when we moved in 4 years ago.
I don't know if it's been there since the house was built inthe 70s or the previous owner put it in, it's just stapled in place.
The floor is well lagged and boarded down the middle.
My thoughts are condensation is forming on the foil and running on to the wood.
As there is no drought in there at all as the lagging is pushed right into the eaves and there is no vent anywhere it is perfect for the mould to grow.
There doesn't seem to be any soft wood but quite a lot of white/black mould on many struts.
My instinct is to rip off the silver foil to let it breath, (it's a tiled roof), and try to kill the mould with something.
Also would a vent in the gable do any good?
I actually didn't notice it, the missus casually mentioned it and asked if we should be worried..
