Thought I would share this with you as there is not much info on the web about milling discs and.before anyone says, "its cheaper to buy new ones" Genuine Iveco truck discs are a couple hundred quid, and I got to learn how to use the mill
I set the revolving table up on the mill today heavy bit of kit it is luckily the hydraulic table was to hand. Being inexperienced with milling it took a while figuring out how to hold the discs down, The disc were 24mm thick scored, pitted and rusty where they have been abused and sat a while,
I looked up the minimum thickness for these discs which is 19mm so plenty of meat to play with. I done the front or outside first check to see if there was any run out with the dial indicator that was good no warpidge, Milled this side with a a face mill cutter with 6 inserts in it started with a slow speed of 250rpm eventually finished with a final cut with the rpm at 666.
Flipped the disc over and had to change to the fly cutter I made, as had to get under the outer lip I used the 8 inch holder it worked really well,
very pleased with the no directional finish ended up with an even thickness of 22.64mm. The mill performed brill and the DRO make life simpler, although I did the first side the old way with the dials as I forgot about it.
Difficult to photograph but I hope you get the jist.
Cheers
