Tilly for a lamp
Coleman multifuel for cooking, though I haven’t used it for a few yrs. I’d run out of coleman fuel, so used petrol instead. Big mistake.
Vapalux lamps are better than Tilley, Coleman are more modern. Tilley lamps are steel, Vapalux brass bases are much stronger. I have one of each in the shed and the Vapalux is way brighter than the Tilley.
Ive got 5 Tilley Lamps and once lit they are brilliant........very messy and lighting them is an experience.....Ive bought them all from car boots etc and never paid more than £15 for one........the new price is eye watering......Ive also got loads of Camping Gaz lanterns which are much better in terms of ease and cleanliness but nowhere near as bright.......I never take the Tilleys with me when we go camping, they are too messy and smelly to carry unless youve got a sealed container...the camping gaz are clean and smell free
Coleman stove - multi fuel 442. Had it years - super little stove.
The biggest tip for using it on unleaded fuel - put a tiny ball bearing in the generator tube - small enuf to you can rattle it about to clean the tube - then remove it before use.
Never had or needed a lantern - would think with modern LEDS - nobody would really have a use for them now.
Tilley, only because it brought back memories of family camping trips when I was a kid. My kids have missed out. We used camping gaz ones, much cleaner and a lot less smelly
In the past I overhauled quite a few Tilleys, I usually gave them to a local scout group. I have kept a Chrome Tilly as I like them but never use it!. I do have a Colman lantern but its looking like its sold, I have no use for it really, I do have a very rare 1960's Coleman stove and after much deliberation I am keeping it for the Tea and hot dogs when we are in some of the more remote places.
I've got both a Coleman Peak stove and lamp. Both are excellent. The lamp is great for sitting outside when a bit cold as it gives off quite a bit of heat as well as light.
Love my camping. Tilley for lighting and primus for cooking. Fell in love with them as a kid in scouts and refuse to be updated.
Was impressed how my sisters coleman stove coped with wind, which a primus hates,
but I shall not be swayed.
