I love electric motors but it seems they do not love me. Another motor, another problem.
The shaft of this rotor is knurled with a press-fitted fan on.
It’s not coming loose, which is annoying as I want to spin the rotor in the lathe to clean the rust off the shaft and it’s in the way. Hitting it won’t be good since it’s sheet metal and will deform easily, as will gripping and turning in a vice - it will tear.
The motor it’s from is one of the dustiest I’ve ever disassembled, in parts there are ‘castings’ which turn out to be pure compacted dust. It did run smoothly however dust was constantly blowing from it, which has prompted the inspection.
