I've just put a set of top mounts, springs and shocks on the front of my car and need to torque the stiff nuts on the top of the struts. Problem is the only way to hold the thread still whilst turning the nut is a hexagonal hole in the top and the nut is down a hole (even without the strut in the car) so it's got to be a socket or possibly a box spanner.
Neilsen do a go-through torque wrench that comes with a few sockets https://ebay.us/xQb1Z0 but I need a 22mm socket.
The old ones were 21mm so obviously different makes of shock use different sizes. I'd like a range of sockets to use with it. There are also a couple of other similar joints on the car so it's worth it to me to buy the tools to do the job and I'm in the local owners club so occasionally let myself get roped in.
So.....https://ebay.us/g73pTM - Sealey do a version too amongst others.
Problem is no-one seems to be answering what size the external hex is on the sockets in either set so I can't establish whether those sockets will work with that torque wrench. The Sealey set seems to intimate that the external hex is 19mm but that's a bit vague.
Anyone got an alternative?
Other than doing them up FT (Fu.....lly Tight) or "three rut-tuts with the impact gun".
