Dear DraftSight® User,
We recently launched DraftSight 2019, which represents a major software upgrade. Based on customer research, this release introduces new innovative functionality including 3D capabilities and a new portfolio to provide you with more choices and flexibility to meet your needs.
Our goal is to provide you with the freedom to design the way you want and the capability to achieve any goal.
We are also investing in other technologies including an upcoming cloud-based version of DraftSight and much more. Therefore, we want to make you aware that DraftSight 2019 for Windows® is offered in paid versions only, and all free versions of DraftSight (2018 or earlier) will cease to run after 12/31/2019.
Some of the most asked-for functionalities and features added to this release include:
- 3D modeling capabilities for prototyping, manufacturing, laser cutting and 3D printing
- Image Tracer to convert raster images to DWG files in seconds
- Formulas in Tables to save calculation time
We are excited to announce this new era for DraftSight and hope that you will harness the power of new innovative capabilities to help you achieve your design goals.

So is the end of another free cad offering, maybe i will look at going back to Autodesk if i am going to have to pay for this or am i missing something?
