You get what you pay for I think, I have one; if I want to clean the car I'll get the Henry but if its a few bits in the footwell it does the job likewise some crumbs on the carpet get the battery one out my favourite is cleaning window cills far less trouble than a hose and attachment.
Finally I'm not adding to James Dyson's coffers.
I bought it, bloody good vacuum. Came with a 4aH battery, I ended up with the circular saw and the hedge cutter as well (oops)... and I said I would never get another battery system.
It isn’t heavy, seems to suck well and comes with a few nozzles/ends etc, which are now cluttering up the bottom drawer of the roll cab.
I'll try it on swarf and workshop rubbish shortly and report back... So far I've used it for cleaning out the insides and bottle rack on a couple of welders it did a good job of that. How good is the suction? Would it be any good for things like swarf, small nails & screws, small chunks of plaster etc., or is it just capable enough for dust and small/light fragments?
