You mean like valve lifters to drop the compression to get the thing started ?
What's the deal with these old engines, are they antiques that people just like to restore, or are they genuinely worth using for modern day projects? I see them pop up on gumtree etc now and then....
I meant the ones on the side of the cyl head, they are connected to the combustion chambers.

What a beast! Proper Bakelite meters as well.I was off grid at the yard for many years and must have gone through twenty so called "good" generator sets, bought the big very slow revving lister engined pre war 30kva set and its still in use twenty years laterat a mates place . Very quiet, run at about 750rpm, use very little fuel, ultra reliable and because of the huge flywheel they dont suddenly drop off when you strike up big welders. If you need a genny thats going to run around the clock they take some beating.

Mine was the same as this

Hooooo she’s burning a bit of coal there boy! Idve though they’d be a CAV item, probably shared with a big paxman or similar? Is she in preservation or still working? We have family connections to the MT brocklebank, that’s now in preservation in Liverpool. She worked under alexandra towings flagView attachment 172896 Just on the off chance, anyone know where to get some injector nozzles for a British Polar K-type? They don't seem to exist and they are quite rare engines today.
The picture shows why
It's a 1927 Thames lighterage tug, steam originally, now Polar 350hp, still hanging on, just about..
Thanks, BP don't supply them anymore, I would get them made personally but he won't for some reason. No CAV ones available.
She's not in preservation (yet) or working really, except for a few odd jobs. He's had her since the 1960's and getting a bit stuck in his ways..
Thanks, I will try and encourage him to try harder to find a solution anyway.Looking at the smoke Jerry I would say its drastically overfuelling. Older pintle type CAV injectors can be lapped/overhauled, still a few outfits that have this equipment.

I have the exact same genset at home...I was off grid at the yard for many years and must have gone through twenty so called "good" generator sets, bought the big very slow revving lister engined pre war 30kva set and its still in use twenty years laterat a mates place .
