I need to make a temporary floor for a tin shed 14x8', what's the cheapest way to do it? OSB, Chipboard? Ply seems too expensive.
It'll need a timber frame under it that I'll rest on top of some small concrete pads. Thanks.
If it's only temporary then OSB, but things supposed to be temporary sometimes end up being permanent. 18mm OSB on 400mm centres for joists and as long as it doesn't get too wet too often should last well. Moisture resistant chipboard flooring obviously better. Screw it down and don't glue the joints and you could re use it somewhere?
When my local place has ex building sites 8'x4x 3/4 marine ply they sell it on for anything from £4 a sheet to £10 a sheet.
Or any building sites what are finishing, they give the stuff away.
OR any "Argi" places you may be able to get a big shipping box for a few £££££. I got a 2 New Holland Combine header box's fro £10. But a decent shed for a friend.
.
Look around and soon you will see how much wood is there.
Good advice! I need it for the weekend if possible. I work on lots of different sites but can never "find" what I need when I need it.....
I've seen some 18mm ply second hand localish for £10 a sheet but need to pick it up during work hours the tracker in the van might give me away
**Language** it I don't like the job anymore anyway.
dobbsic;
there's a plywood wholesales in Luton......I bought a load of 1/2 and 3/4 resin bonded for not a lot of money......
also, they sell the top and bottom sheets off cheap from the full stacks, often only a little strapping damage......
my chicken shed is buit with them......
I know its only a temporary floor but some of this cheap ply on the market is pure tosh, I bought a pack of 18mm 8X4`s from ebay to line the mancave extension and some of it delaminated while in the pack. My lads have since used it up as site hoarding which is about all its good for, I will use something else on the mancave.
