One for all you plumbing experts to ponder and provide your normal A grade advise on
Putting in a new ensuite shower/bath upstairs and planning to run the wastes into the downstairs cloakrooms soil pipe.
As its an old place we don't have a ceiling void so no where to easily hide pipes.
Plan is to put a shallow shower trap then run the shower waste pipe across and down to connect into the cloakroom soil which is about 2m away (and on the ground floor)
We want to box in the bath waste so are thinking of running the waste straight from the bath for 2m and then putting in a P trap in a place we can access it if needed before again routing down into cloakroom soil. i.e. not directly below bath.
Couple of questions.
1. is it OK to run shower/bath wastes this distance and if so what is the recommended fall over 2m run?
2. is it OK to have a "remote" P trap 2m away from the bath?
3. The cloakroom soil isn't vented, it goes into a common drain which is vented through soil pipes that exit above eaves about 3m away on one side and 5 m away on the other side. Is this OK or do I need to vent the cloakroom soil?
I did try to do a drawing but after 30 mins decided technical drawings weren't my forte
Cheers,
Paul.
