I needed to make up a tool to use on my old slide hammer but could not find a nut to fit the shaft. What size is it likely to be any ideas.
Both I need to find some nuts to fitWhat TPI or pitch?

yes i was looking at coupling nuts available in the usa in that size!If you can get them then coupling nuts are what you want, they are long nuts like used on the puller in the picture. They will obviously cost more but at least you know you will have plenty of thread in the nut
I have the same slide hammer and injector pipe nuts fit, I use one with with a self tapper welded on to pull dents out
do u weld the self tapper to the dent or drill and screw it inI have the same slide hammer and injector pipe nuts fit, I use one with with a self tapper welded on to pull dents out
thanks mate that would be handy!I've probably got a set of knackered injector pipes for a Series Land Rover and they will have 5/8 nuts on each end. I'll check if they haven't already gone in the scrap bin
There'll be 8 of them
ha ha ha i wouldnt have it any other way lol! but there will be plenty more knowing land rovers huhThere may only be 4 if it turns out they fit my slide hammer too
do u weld the self tapper to the dent or drill and screw it in
I drill a 3mm hole and screw the self tapper in through the injector nut, then screw the nut onto the slide hammer trapping the screw. I also use the same principle and weld a 6mm nut on and screw a bolt into it. The injector nut will be off a Mercedes as thats all I work on, if you cant get one send me your address and l will fire on in the post for you, replaced 2 pipes last week so have 4 nuts at the moment
