There is a woman in the Duff Owners Club (for owners of ex MOD DAF trucks like this).
They are fitted with a 6 cylinder Cummins diesel engine, it's all very basic, engine kill is a steel cable, no common rail etc.
She has a fault with the engine cutting out when she takes her foot off the accelerator:
"When I'm coming to a junction and slow down or change gear as soon as foot comes off accelerator she cuts out completely. I pulled into a layby and she won't tick over unless I keep foot on accelerator. Have replaced lift pump and 2 fuel pipes to hydraulic pipes"
The common suspect on these trucks is the fuel delivery hose from the fuel tank to the lift pump as they are nylon push fits which can leak over time, allowing the lift pump to draw in air but she has replaced these with hydraulic crimped pipes now, and she has also replaced the lift pump.
Any pointers I can pass on to her?
