I've had to accept that several disabilities have started to impinge more on my life , so have had to swallow hard & give up my the three wheel electric scooter & get rid of the pedestrian pushed wheelchair . The scooter sets my spinal injuries off when I turn the steering column . The wheelchair won't allow me to recline slightly to take pressure out my spine nor will it allow me to keep this replacement left knee joint in a slightly bent position ... the new electric wheel chair will .
So in their place I've got a second hand electric wheel chair that the hoist of my car can lift as it's under 100 kg , but due to the low roof height I can't get it inside the car because the arms are about four inches too high so is the back rest of the seat .
I'm hoping to cut the armrests and either put a sleeve over the cut or put a square pin inside the cut so that they can be quickly rejoined easily by me or my wife with a locking pin or a " R "clip .
I've made a quick release device to take the seat back rest off too .
Before I cut the armrests I need to know If anyone has any tube or bar 19.6 mm square for me to purchase for me slide inside the cut tube ?
or some square tube with an internal size of 25.7 mm sq to slide over the cut joint then again pin it or clip it back together when in use
If there are no such standard tubes would someone offer to mill me some 120 mm long 19.6 mm square bars qty two .
I'm happy to pay for them becaue I need the chair for two days in Mid November 2107
Can any one help , if so post on this thread please ?
