I've got a silly idea that I'm exploring to possibly make a small table top
I see, I think....maybe set broken con rods and the like into it? Could be good! Seriously though, I can see that a clear glass top could have stuff set in a thinner layer of resin underneath it. The bond with glass would be ok.
I did a table top with polyester that had about 40 old Tv remote controls, It went on a wooden frame is a lounge which was good till you put the TV remote on the table and it blended in
We made a few with glitter and bits of plastic that look like pearl, The pearl ones came out like giant opals, this was one of the youtube guides we followed but there are plenty on there, They can be made a bit sweeter with LED lights cast in aswell, Kids in the family loved doing it...so did iMy daughter makes cool little resin things with stickers and glitter in. The biggest problem is getting the mix right - it can go off too quickly or worse, just never quite set and remain a little bit sticky. I wouldn't like to do a big slab of resin for those reasons.
Depends what its for, alloy is quite hard to stick to so some kind of etch primers is usually used.
Another way to increase adhesion recomended by West system epoxy was to wet sand the article with the epoxy mix that you are using, (it must have the hardener added). This seals the air from the alloy & stops the oxide layer forming. Also supposed to work with copper alloys.
