I've just spotted that earth connection too!
sometimes you have to wonder about a professional's ability, and you'll never be any the wiser once its out of sight, that is until it goes wrong. glad to see you managed to get there before too much damage was done
You think that's poor electrics...this was the 3 phase supply to the villa I bought in Spain..
the villa from there...6 bedrooms, three bathrooms and two kitchens
This is why I do my own electrics.
This is why I do my own electrics.
That's why UK consumer units need to be metal now. Apparently there have been fires started by faults like this. This was done by a supposed qualified electrian
So on closer inspection, I find he's wired up a compressor, welder, Milling machine & lathe all on a 10A rcb... ***
In hind sight I should done the electrics myself, but as the intention was to set up a business over here in Portugal, I did not know the Portuguese regs regarding workshop electrics.
As it turns out anything goes as long as the plug sockets & boxes are above 1.5m above the floor.
Hes was brought in by the builder who did the work on my workshop, whom is coming around today, I expect him to fully cover the cost of materials & labour.
On a personal note I'm as happy as pig in **** I thrive on sorting out other people crap work, so for me the work is playtime
However, I am more than slightly miffed that my new workshop could have burnt to ground, especially as everything outside the workshop ie. the countryside is as dry as a bone and ready to burn half of Portugal.
Either way it's been a few years since I've done a distribution box, so the fun begins today.

You think that's poor electrics...this was the 3 phase supply to the villa I bought in Spain..the three purple wires go into the house and appear again in a 'junction box' and everything goes off through the villa from there...6 bedrooms, three bathrooms and two kitchens were supplied from this!! There was one fuse outside the house that used to trip if we had a thunderstorm...so quite often! Notice the sticking plaster as insulating tape
