I am posting in the brew room but you will have to excuse the pun.

Amongst other things I have some brewing equipment that I have listed on facebook . Many thing seem to struggle to sell near xmas but I usually price my stuff to sell and rarely have many problems.

This time I have listed 4 x 5 gallon beer barrels . 2 with pressure valves fitted.

3 x 5 gallon fermenting bins 4 x 1 gallon glass demijohns

Together with a large high pressure wine filter and small gravity filter and a few sundries like bubblers and corker (put in not take out.)

With the beer barrels alone costing 30 quid isH on ebay I listed them at a conservative 50 quid for the lot in about 15 facebook local selling sites.

Nothing....not even a sniff for two weeks am I expecting too much or is there really no money around at all??

I would of thought that the sheer size of that list of equipment might be putting people off this time of year.

Nothing to do with money,its cheaper to go to asda or the off licence.

Theres plenty of money around mate but this time of the year its getting used up buying Crap for the 5 second wow factor on the 25th of Dec...people are asking me to put a £50 patch on there roofs that are completly knacked to get them into Jan as they have to keep there money for glitter and tat and all things sparkely

That might be the case but the national brewing forum have said it's great value but they all want it posted......lol The my hermes lady would not get it all in her car.

Funny you should say that I had tried with a single photo of one barrel.. then I moved it all and took one of the lot..

I had a friend in huyton,liverpool who used to brew his own lager,I came up to his flat one day and found him with the beer barrel next to his chair and a tube going from the barrel to his mouth.

Told me can't be ars*d getting up to get a scoop of it from the kitchen.

I found it difficult getting rid of secondhand brewing kit, ended up giving all mine away.Its the same with aquarium stuff.

Another anomaly with Facebook is starting a selling site. Being crafty I thought I would start a site so I could see things before they were approved....anyway not only did that not work but I can't even get people to post without moderator approval. . Lol

I get fed up of listing stuff on facebook only for ut go gk missing within 5 mins so I started my own classified sites.

Idea being you can list items on the website and them use copy and paste to populate adds on facebook. ......well I find it very quick and useful. But only 3 peoplle bother using it us..lol

I used to brew my own but its become expensive. I can buy bottles of good quality pale ale for not much more than I can make my own............and its better.......no sediment

...and no hassle or messing about-no sterilising the equipment, keeping the mix at the right temp, checking on it etc. Even at 20 quid for the lot the potential buyer has to do those things.

I wasn't referring to the money rather the actual size. Christmas is a busy time of year for folks.

To be fair it's why I don't bother brewing but I just looked at prices on ebay to get a gauge. ...having said that nappy wrapping bin, large round table. Motorcycle coat and trousers stuff like that has had no offers even. You usually get some comedian make a stupid offer just to see if they can get stuff for peanuts but not even any of those around just lately. Lol

We have five mature grapevines in the garden that give a modest amount of grapes each year.
In 2012 we had a bumper crop so with a view to making some wine in addition to the cider we normally make every year I placed an advert on Freecycle requesting demijohns.
Not only was I offered over 40 demijohns but loads of fermenting buckets, pressure barrels and assorted brewing paraphernalia.
I had to turn down loads of kit that was cluttering up peoples garages and sheds.
If people are willing to give it away free it pretty much kills the 2nd hand market.

Someone is going to have a bargain If you lived nearer I would have had them but 40 miles is too far when you hate driving in traffic. lol.


So I replied I would be happy to deliver for that price..

I then got this..lol I am thinking about it Will get back to you when I have decided. If you sell before thats fine.
