I had an email this afternoon purporting to be from TY Licensing, somehow it made its way past the spam filter.

Usual, format....NO, I didn't click on anything but you can see how some might fall for it [mis-spelling and odd 'newspaper' reference in the signature

I've got a very very large pile of threats from TV licensing going back years. The letters contain no company number or registered address and when I phone and ask for their company details they tell me they are "the government" and do not need to supply that information. They also will not let me talk to the person who signs the letters. Their latest threat is that they are going to force entry. Good luck with that chummys. You might come in but you won;t walk out. I do not have a TV and they cannot give me the legislation which states I have to tell them that I do not have a TV, only the legislation which says I have to declare I watch a TV. If their first letter had not been so threatening, I would have told them. I will make a Youtube video and burn the lot one day.

Let's be careful out there.....

I had two of them today and a Netflix one, at one time I used to forward them to each other, i.e. a Netflix one to a tv licence scammer but someone said I was just confirming my email address was active so another avenue of pleasure was denied to me.

I kept getting them round our house asking where no 2 is its here I said . but this is number one he said I said yea it is . now go do one and shut the door in his face I didn't tell him its 1 and 2 knocked in to one house keep em guessing

Ours is no5 but it is two in one so there is no no7, the first house on the street is no3 and there is no no1, it gets worse further down where no19 is before no17 it must be a postman's nightmare.

They're not very bright, dvla send out cheque's

Years ago I used to get a reminder in the post every month that I did not have a license for number 15 ******* street and I would face proceedings if I did not acquire one immediately. I used to send the letter back saying I live at number 19, as the letter was addressed and why would I have a license for 15 when I didn't live there. They used to send an apology then the following month the threatening letter would appear again. I rang and contacted them saying I would take action if they didn't stop the harassment and they apologised again and then sent me another which carried on for the best part of a year. I just kept the letters and stopped replying till we moved house. The latest scam we are getting is a robot phone message telling me BT internet and phone will be cut off and to press 1 to contact them to remedy the problem. We are on Talk Talk and I keep blocking the number but it comes in again with the same 01233 area code but a digit different in the number. We just stopped using the land line

I had that with PPL. In the end I sent them a list of my charges for answering the telephone and dealing with letters. That also had no effect until I started sending out invoices and LBAs. That soon got their attention and so far, no more contact.

Letters aren't so bad, you can send the envelope back marked "undelivered" and empty apart from an offcut of 10mm plate...

I got a brilliant one the other day, letter from hmrc, everything correct, said they owe me 1758 (ish) and they will pay in to my account..... A month later still nothing.... I'm ever hopeful they will send it over.

Anyways - literally just received this in my inbox from gumtree mail - see how many red flags you can spot...
