After making the spanner patio table and left with one more bare stand I wanted one that involved a little more than throwing ready made shapes together.
My plan was a spider web design and after finding my 6mm bar hiding inside a length of box section it was all systems go, thanks to @Richard. for the offer to send some but was not needed.
Standard of finish I found was hard to decide upon, I wanted it reasonable but not that perfect or detailed it looked like some bought in cheap import thing, I required a 'roughness' that showed it was handmade but not that rough it looked like I could not weld, think I have got it about right....I think..errrr perhaps...hmmm
My handicap of not having an artistic bone in my body did not help, neither was my mild OCD pleased with the non exact joints, spacings and finish.
Still a bit of cleaning up to do and splatter to remove then perhaps decide on a more visual finish for the fly, followed by a coat of laquer to retain the steel without hiding it under paint.
Not easy to see in the photo but the spider has an actual body thickness and not just a flat disc, two discs dished and joined together and a beauty of a blood blister when I missed during the shaping.
