As some of you may recall, I painted my road bike this summer. After taking advice on here I primered it with 2k epoxy then top coats of tractol. I don't have the safety gear for iso paint.
Anyway it turned out really well and I put some pics up.
Last week I dropped a piece of steel bar on the top tube. No dents, just paint damage. The tractol chipped off but the epoxy primer underneath was in tact.
I found my tin of light grey tractol mixed in a splash of xylene thinners and after flatting off the scratch touched it in. It got darker with each coat. Really disappointed.
Had another bash at it today.
I realized that the paint in the gun was becoming unmixed. The black rising to the top, even between coats. So today between coats I took the lid off and gave it a stir. Light grey to the last coat. Perfect match.
