Ive been on the look out (as a kitchen fitter and carpenter) for a hardwood worktop or 60minute fire door. Not had any luck so far.
2 options I'm considering
40mm laminated chip board (£40)
18mm ply glued and screwed to make 36mm thick. (£25)
I have another work bench with the vice on directly over a 75mm thick fence post leg so no problem there.
Ultimately it will have a lathe (ml7 or similar) and a small mill. Total length of top to be 2.4m with a 600 handmade unit underneath made from 2x2s with mortis and tennon joints. A 2" batten on the wall and 2 other 2x2 frames with mdf inside.
What does everybody else use?
